Work History

Lead Business Intelligence Analyst | Amwins

Denver, CO (Remote) | March 2022 - Present

Work with Director of Data to build Power BI Reporting solutions for the business and mentor five analysts.

  • Launched a Core Data Model to be used with 10+ Power BI reports. This dataset uses RLS to show only revenue/submissions for your book of business across a catalog of reports.
  • Played intricate role in creating Amwins DNA data philosophy for our insureds, market partners, retailers, and firm.
  • Crafted a dashboard for the brokerage division showcasing submissions, revenue, retention, bind ratio, and top markets. I also added field parameters allowing the user to switch values within visuals for premium and revenue.
  • Designed a catalog content landing report for users to access company reports without having to directly go to the workspace. RLS-driven to show appropriate reports for the right users.
  • Responsible for leading five analysts with three-week sprints to develop and maintain reports.
  • Created design and publishing standards with documentation to keep all reports looking unified with Amwins' theme.
  • Worked with project managers to organize workflows and sprints through Azure DevOps. This includes creating DevOps queries to help track work progress.
  • Produced a dashboard report using Power BI metadata to track dataset refresh times and success/failure rates. Creating this report allowed us to see trends in refresh time and address any issues with overnight refreshes.
  • Assisted other departments in setting up workspaces, creating ACL groups, and teaching Power BI to help them become more self-reliant.
  • Maintained Azure DevOps dashboards, backlogs, queries, stories, and tasks.
  • Provided helpdesk support through Service Now tickets for incidents related to Power BI and data.

  • Worked with leadership to design, develop, and deploy Power BI dashboards that drive analytics and revenue reporting.
  • Created a Power BI report called the Referral Dashboard that aggregated premium % by LOB across the country, enabling brokers to locate other brokers who specialize in a particular LOB. This helps drive referral business and bring revenue.
  • Architected a web portal with C#, SQL, and Javascript to organize the data warehouse.
  • Set up and maintained over 300 SSRS reports for automation across the division.
  • Collaborated with teammates to convert IT development projects to agile methodology and scrum, transitioning from FTVC to Azure Repos/Git.
  • Configured data models in Power BI to use across the division, creating a single source of truth.
  • Designed scripts and stored procedures using SQL, SSIS, batch files, and encryption to send files to clients.

Full stack dev creating internal/external web projects, marketing materials and assisting with other IT initiatives.

  • Responsible for designing and developing the company's public website using CSS, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, VB.NET, and ASP.NET.
  • Developed the initial company intranet site, which allowed stores to access supply ordering, training class registration, incident reporting, and company updates.
  • Created the first digital food menu boards across stores using Adobe Photoshop and Flash.
  • Worked with a marketing agency to create event websites for trade shows and golf outings using HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL, ASP.NET, and VB.NET.
  • Led the company study group implementation and designed a message board for communication. This allowed non-competitive companies to share business ideas on a web-based message board.
  • Assisted IT in non-developer projects, such as converting newly acquired stores to our network, office moves, and on-call helpdesk.
  • Wrote and produced the company trade show video for IT.
